A long time ago, in the beautiful continent of Africa, an alien invasion occurred: The classical guitar.
The classical guitar was introduced to the continent by European missionaries in the late 1800s, and it has since been embraced by African musicians who have adapted it to suit their cultural and musical traditions. Classical guitar at the present has a small but growing presence in Africa.
ACCEPTING THE ALIEN
it is not at all usual for non-African musicians to make a success of African music. It is therefore not too surprising that a leading classical guitarist should turn to African music, with its vast array of instruments—some of them highly complex—and the fascination of its interlocking and crisscrossing rhythms. The nylon-strung “classical” guitar as we know it has found its way into this musical culture, as it has into many others.
PRESERVING THE LEGACY.
The richness of the African culture needs a custodian that preserves and tell the tales of it’s uniqueness.
Therefore, Involving kids in African classical guitar is a great way to introduce them to the beauty and diversity of African music. By exposing children to different cultures and styles of music, we can instill the values of resilient creativity and watch them become legends. That is the premise of the CACG Academy.
THE CACG ACADEMY.
The CACG ACADEMY is currently the first and only classical guitar academy in west Africa.
Our obsession with excellence in various musical forms has prompted us to commence the TUITION- FREE CLASSICAL GUITAR EDUCATION PROGRAM in giving scholarships to Children aged 8 – 17 years an intensive coaching to learn classical guitar skills from expert teachers and to receive a Ten-month Diploma in performing Arts certificate.
Our children own beautiful, intelligent and highly motivated minds, therefore involving them in African classic guitars is a great way to instill their love for music, the values of the rich African culture, discover your child’s potential, nurture their talent and produce legends while preserving the legacy of the African culture.
